Student Health Service is here for you!

Do you wish to talk to someone about your well-being or everyday life? Whether it's about establishing routines, managing stress, or dealing with complicated relationships, Student Health Service is here for you. "We're here for conversations, but we also work in other ways to ensure our students feel as good as possible," says Maria Cederlund, Social Counsellor.

The Student Health Service at the University of Skövde is located in Building E, and three Social Counsellors. One part of their service is offering individual sessions with students, but they also focus on creating a good studying environment at the University and promoting equal opportunities for all students.

"Mental health is a big issue, and many students struggle to balance their lives. Various factors contribute to this, from stress related to studies to the challenge of moving away from home and feeling lonely. We're here to listen and support, no matter what's affecting your well-being," says Maria Cederlund.

Personal Meetings

The councellors at Student Health Service have a duty of confidentiality, and no records are kept of the meetings. Booking an appointment is free of charge.

"We usually meet in person because face-to-face interaction is important, but of course, we can also meet over Zoom or talk on the phone."

The Student Health Service also see a need to create accessible meeting places for students.

"We host 'Over a Cup of Tea,' where all students are welcome. We organise this together with the Church on Campus, and there's always someone from Student Health Service attending," she explains.

Routines for Better Health

What advice do you give to students to help them balance their studies with other aspects of life?

"Many students struggle with sleep problems, and we know that both food and exercise affect how we sleep. Small, simple habits can have a big impact on your well-being. For example, going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, eating regularly, and taking a walk during the day can make a difference. We also offer several webinars where we discuss how to find balance in student life," says Maria Cederlund.
