The spring semester is about to begin, and the University of Skövde welcomes both new and returning students to campus! There will be introduction days for all new students, both international and Swedish.

Already on January 15th, around 70 international students will arrive at the University, hailing from countries such as France, India, and Italy. The introduction week includes a variety of activities, from campus tours to traditional Swedish fika, a bus tour of Skövde, and a meeting with Monica Green, Chair of Skövde’s Municipal Council.
Swedish culture and visit to an elk park
“For this spring semester, we have more buddies than ever before. There are 18 of them participating during the orientation days to help our new international students settle into both academic life and Swedish culture,” says Frida Lindgren, International Coordinator.
The Erasmus Student Network Skövde (ESN) is also organising several activities, including the recurring and highly popular visit to an elk park. The events organised by ESN Skövde are open to all students, not just international ones.
A second introduction starts on 20 January
On January 20th, introduction for new Swedish students begins. This spring semester, 200 students are starting their programme studies at the University. Among them, 60 are studying to become teachers via the University of Borås. Additionally, 2,000 students are beginning individual courses, with the University increasing the number of available slots by approximately 1,000 compared to last spring, mainly in distance education. The orientation starts with a welcome ceremony on campus but is also held digitally for those studying remotely. Programmes starting this spring include Nursing, Ecology and Sustainable Development, and the Master's Programme in Biomedicine.
The orientation provides SWEDISH students with the opportunity to get to know both the University and their new classmates. Buddies are also present to assist new students. Frida Lindgren describes the introduction days as something special:
“The introduction is a bright spot in the winter darkness. These are usually wonderful and exciting days when we welcome our new students to the University and to the region,” says Frida Lindgren.
With the introduction soon in full swing, you will see many new faces on campus. Take the opportunity to greet the new students – you probably remember how nerve-wracking those first days were!
The University wishes all students a warm welcome to the new semester!
