Here you will find information on where to turn if you have been subjected to or have witnessed discrimination, harassment, or sexual harassment. At the University of Skövde, we have zero tolerance for discrimination and we actively work to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
Report Discrimination
To file a report, you can always contact the coordinator for equal treatment at likavillkorstudent@his.se.
You can also reach out to the head of division responsible for your course or program or submit a written report via registrator@his.se.
As an education provider, we are legally obligated to take action and investigate incidents. You can always contact likavillkorstudent@his.se for advice and support.
From Report to Investigation
The purpose of an investigation is to stop unwanted behavior and determine whether discrimination has occurred under the Discrimination Act. The decision also serves as a basis for any necessary actions. The head of division is responsible for investigating reported incidents to halt ongoing issues and/or implement measures.
When you submit a report of discrimination, harassment, or sexual harassment, a meeting is scheduled. You will meet with the head of division and/or the coordinator for equal rights to explain what has happened. You may bring a support person if you wish. The accused party will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations, but this happens in a separate meeting where you do not need to be present.
It is always up to the affected person to decide whether they want to report and initiate an investigation. An investigation cannot be conducted if you wish to remain anonymous.
According to the Discrimination Act, it is prohibited to subject anyone to retaliation for reporting or highlighting discrimination. Retaliation refers to punishment or unfair treatment in response to a complaint.
What Happened?
If you feel targeted, you are the one who determines whether the action or behavior was unwelcome. Make it clear to the person responsible that their behavior is not acceptable, and do not wait to report if you feel affected.
When filing a report, it is helpful to be as detailed as possible and try to answer the following questions:
On what grounds were you discriminated against?
When did the incident occur?
Where did it happen?
What happened? (Describe the events in detail)
How did you experience the incident?
How has the incident affected you?
Were there any witnesses?
How did you express that the behavior was unwelcome?
