Cancellation or withdrawal from courses and programmes
If you have decided not to complete your programme or courses you need to cancel your registration. We recommend you to contact a study and career counsellor before you cancel your studies.
Questions
Withdrawal from courses you have been accepted to is made via E-mail to antagning@his.se. To cancel courses and education programmes you are registered for, send your name, personal number and which course/programme you wish to cancel to antagning@his.se.
You may only cancel your registration during an ongoing course or programme. The date you submit your cancellation is the official cancellation date.
Is the cancellation made within 3 weeks from the start date of the course or programme, the registration for ongoing programmes and separate courses will be deleted from the computer-based study documentation system, LADOK. Cancellations made at a later date remain in LADOK and are included in Certificates of Registration along with the cancellation date.
Note! Be aware that cancellation is a definite decision to end an education and that you give up the right to your place in a course or programme, and will be deleted from course participant and address lists from the cancellation date. Examination, re-examination or submitting assignments, is not permitted after the cancellation date.
If you have study grants from CSN, you must notify CSN of changes in your studies to ascertain you will not be liable to refund your payment. CSN also has access to LADOK. You can download a Certificate of Registration in LADOK with your active registrations and submit to CSN. The certificate can also be ordered here.
Credits taken are not affected by a cancellation of a course or programme, and remain in LADOK. If you were to return to studies in the same programme, or any other academic education programme, you can apply for a transfer of credits. The decision is made by the university you apply to.
You are not guaranteed to return to the cancelled program or courses at a later time. If a course cancellation is made early, that is within three weeks from the course start date (and you have not taken any credits), you can reapply for the course. If the cancellation is made more than three weeks after the course start date, you can request re-registration by contacting the course coordinator, provided there is an opening in the course at the time of the request.
You can apply to resume studies in a programme you have previously cancelled. See more information here.
The application may be granted provided:
You have attended the first semester of the programme (resuming discontinued studies in the first semester is not permitted)
There is an opening in the programme at that time
The programme has the same code as it had when you were previously registered
