Motivation

Simone Giertz is an inventor and YouTube personality, who challenges how the world can think about technology, creativity and problem solving.

Originally known for deliberately building "useless" robots, Simone turned her niche interest into a platform to inspire innovation, and to see failure as learning. Deliberately turning comical and failed inventions into functional and complex machines reflects a deep commitment to development, creativity and engineering.

In addition to Simone's viral videos, her work motivates countless individuals – especially women – to pursue careers in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

The University of Skövde would like to recognise Simone Giertz as a female pioneer and source of inspiration. Her humor, perseverance and ingenuity challenge the boundaries of engineering and inspire the next generation of innovators.
