SkrivaText – Spell-Check Software
SkrivaText is a program that helps you in your writing. It provides assistance with spelling and grammar checking. With SkrivaText, you can also improve the quality of your texts through the program's built-in analysis function. As additional support, SkrivaText includes several dictionaries where you can look up and get explanations of various words.
Currently, SkrivaText only works in Google Docs and Word Online.
You can download SkrivaText through an extension in the Edge or Chrome browser, and log in to SkrivaText using your student account. Select Microsoft account and then your student email.
Accessible content by Blackboard Ally in Canvas
In the learning platform Canvas, you will find the accessibility tool Ally. Ally is located in the header of all text pages in Canvas, represented by the symbol A with a download arrow.
When you click the Ally symbol, you'll first see a list of all the documents available on the page. After that, you will be presented with several accessible options for the text. For text-to-speech, select the option "Immersive Reader," a speech synthesis tool.
TorTalk Text-to-Speech
TorTalk is a text-to-speech tool that reads the text aloud. Listen to any text you see on the screen, including:
- scanned images
- documents
- PDF files
- online journals
- e-books
It offers several different voices in various languages. Download TorTalk to your own computer from tortalk.se/en.
