Although all human beings share 99 per cent of their DNA, we often divide ourselves into "Us and Them". People categorise and classify in order to make sense of the world around them. It is part of human nature. However, categorising people also reinforces prejudice, contributes to polarisation, and is used to legitimise oppression and violence. Some regard their own "race" as superior, while viewing other "races" as inferior. Can history help us become more aware?
