Students with disabilities can receive support from a student mentor. The University of Skövde is now looking for more students who want to help create structure and motivation in another student’s daily life.
Help a fellow student succeed
At the University of Skövde, students with disabilities have the opportunity to receive support from a student mentor. If you choose to become a mentor, you will take on a rewarding role where you help another student structure and plan their studies.
How the role works
You act as a support person with the aim of helping the student maintain their motivation, achieve their personal goals, and gain reassurance that they are approaching different tasks in the right way. Meetings usually take place on a weekly basis, either in person or via Zoom.
Who can become a student mentor?
To be a mentor, you need to be well organised, be able to create clarity, and stay curious about others.
You can work as a mentor during your studies, but also afterwards while waiting for employment. Some former students continue as mentors for several years after completing their own studies. You can also be a mentor at the University of Skövde even if you continue your studies at another higher education institution.
Introduction for new mentors
The following date is available for an introduction session for new mentors. Registration is required.
- Tuesday 26 May at 3:15 PM on campus (in English)
