Bioscience - Molecular Biodesign

Congratulations on being admitted to the Bioscience – Molecular Biodesign programme, the first step to your future career! We'll make sure that your curiosity in life sciences is growing even larger, and together we will study how different biomolecules can be designed and produced for different purposes in life sciences.

Registration

You will need to register for the study programme before the programme starts to keep your place on the study programme. You can do that via www.his.se/studentportalen between 3rd and 15th of August. To be able to register you must first activate your user account at konto.his.se.

If unable to attend

If you do not have the opportunity to be present at the programme start, it is very important that you communicate this to me via e mail. In addition to this, you also need to register on the study programme via the Student Portal at latest August 16th. You will lose your place on the study programme if you do not register via the Student Portal.

Programme start

The programme starts on Wednesday the 25th August 2021, at 10:15 to 15.00 in room G111 (house G)

Task: Introduce yourself

Before the programme starts we would like you to introduce yourself. In this way you will have an idea about your future peer students. Please, describe briefly about yourself, where you come from, what you have done before, what you like to do in your spare time and why you want to study this programme. You can, for example, write a few lines, make a small movie, make a power point presentation or in any other way that you prefer. It is optional how you would like to introduce yourself but please upload your presentation on the programme page available on Canvas. The Canvas page will be available as soon as you have registered on the Student Portal.

What happens this autumn?

The programme starts with taking a broad approach to the field of life sciences. The subject area of the program is introduced in the course "Introduction to Molecular Biodesign" where you also will go through the basic training on how to work in our laboratories. In parallel two courses "Basic Chemistry" and "Biological Life Forms and Function" you will be introduced to chemistry and the living world around us. The following study period you will use this knowledge to understand how our cells are constructed and function in the course "Cell Biology".

If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
Very welcome!
