Action plan for confirmed cases of Covid-19 at the University

This Action Plan applies from 9 November 2020. The following Action Plan is applicable for instances where the University has been visited by an employee or student who has symptoms of Covid-19, who goes on to develop such symptoms within 24 hours, or who has received a positive test result. The plan is based upon the instructions issued by County Medical Officer. In cases where a student does not inform the University, and staff become aware of a possible covid-19 case, the Course Coordinator or other staff from the University will contact the student in question and look into the situation.

In the event of a confirmed case of COVID-19 among students:

  • The student shall be urged to contact their course coordinator immediately after having received a positive test result.
  • The student shall provide their course coordinator with a list of persons within the University with whom they were in close contact 24 hours before the development of symptoms or the receipt of a positive test result. (Close contact’ here means having been within 1½-2 metres of the person for at least 15 minutes, either indoors or outdoors.)
  • The course coordinator shall inform their immediate manager if any employees or other students are among the people with whom the infected student has been in close contact.
  • The course coordinator shall inform the student group in question. 
  • The immediate manager shall inform the School’s senior management group and any employees with whom the infected student has been in close contact.  
  • The student must remain at home (and study from home) for a period of at least seven days (counted from the day on which symptoms were first experienced), and not return to campus until they have felt well and been without fever for at least 48 hours.
  • In the event of any worry or anxiety, students shall be urged to contact the Student Health Service: studenthalsan@his.se
  • If no symptoms have been experienced, the student must remain at home and study from home for a period of seven days, counted from the day on which the test was taken, before returning to continue their studies on Campus.

If several people become infected within one work/student group:

  • In the event that more than three people have become infected within one staff/student group, the Universitys contact person must be informed to find out if any further action is necessary.
  • The measures to be taken and a Communication Plan are developed in accordance with the instructions of the infection-control authority. The Head of School shall inform the University´s employees and students.
  • In the event of a major outbreak, a special Communication Plan shall be developed.
