Honorary Doctorate Luciano Floridi gives lecture at the University of Skövde

2022-05-20
10:15 - 12:00
Room G110, G Building

The Italian philosopher Luciano Floridi was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Informatics at the University of Skövde in 2020. On Friday May 20 he will come to Skövde and the University to give his Honorary Doctorate lecture “Digital Sovereignty and Social Ontology”. The lecture will be open to the public.

“In this talk, I shall discuss a crucial phenomenon for the development of any information society, namely digital sovereignty. I shall begin by analysing its nature (what it is) and logic (how it works), and then focus on who holds what kind of digital sovereignty today, both as a matter of fact (de facto) and as a matter of legal requirements (de jure). I shall conclude by looking at how digital sovereignty may evolve in the European Union.”

This lecture is open to the public and is arranged by the University's Network for Digital Ethics (NDE).

Coffe will be served in connection to the lecture.
